So What Is 4-H?

4-H is...

  • for youth ages 5-18 years of age.  In Massachusetts the age is determined as of January 1 of the current  4-H program year.  For this year it is as of 1/1/18.  Youth 8 years or older may join the Nifty Needles Club.
  • for those interested in knowing more about their hobbies, interests or something they've never done before
  • fun
  • full of great opportunities
  • a great start toward a life-long career
  • a great place to make friends
  • for adults who would like to volunteer and like to help youth reach their full potential
  • a non-profit educational youth organization managed under the land grant extension colleges through  the United States Department of Agriculture.

The four H's stand for:   Head    Heart    Hands    Health
